Ultra low miles, unrepeatable.
A genuine Supersport Targa is one of the most rare of this generation of 911. The massive rise in value of these Porsche over the last 7 years reflects the appeal; the drive, the aesthetics, the sound and with the low mileage of this particular example, this must be a great 911 bet for the future.
It is believed that Porsche manufactured just 63 M491 ‘wide-body’ Targa for the UK in 1989.
There were it seems, only 1063 Targa (of both LHD and RHD normal and wide body types) built in total for what is known as RoW (rest of World). Convertibles (2787) and coupes (3532) were made in much greater numbers. Further more, judging by the VIN number of this car (1017) it is one of the very very last of right drive UK cars. No doubt as more research is done it will become certain, but by then the car will be in new hands.
C16 (UK specification) RHD.
As you may already know, a real genuine Supersport (or Works Turbo Look as the Europeans describe them) is a special car. Embracing the wide-body Turbo-Look, these Supersport variants came with the deep front spoiler and ‘tea-tray’ rear wing of their turbo charged relatives, plus the uprated brake system, wider rear track and wider 16″ Fuchs alloys too of a Turbo.
They retained the normally aspirated 3.2 litre air-cooled flat six (for C16 models, 930/20 motor without catalytic converters making 231 bhp) and this has the Getrag G50 5-speed gearbox.
In addition this particular car has the rare Factory M220 option 40% Limited slip differential.
